What you build on

I have been building Uploadcare for fifteen years. In that time the way products get made has changed completely, more than once, and the change happening now is the biggest I have seen. AI has made building products faster than most of us thought possible. A working app that used to take a team a month can appear in an afternoon.

When building gets that fast, what matters most is what holds everything up underneath. The product still has to run, for real people, at real scale, at 3 a.m. when no one is watching. That has always been the hard and interesting part, and it is where the best engineering goes. The AI boom is built on infrastructure, and infrastructure is having its moment.

File handling is one piece of that foundation, and it is the piece we know best. Anyone can add an uploader to an app in an afternoon. What takes longer is everything behind it: the upload that holds up when thousands of people hit it at once, the file scanned for malware before it reaches you, the image delivered fast on every device in every region. The teams building fast with AI are discovering how much work all of this really is. So they build on us and get back to their product. More and more of the products being built with AI run on Uploadcare.

Building with AI on Uploadcare feels natural. Our documentation is readable by coding agents, and our CLI lets one set us up and run operations on its own. The MCP server we are building goes a step further, letting an agent work with Uploadcare directly.

We are also bringing AI into the product itself, shaped by what customers keep reaching for. Generative image editing is coming into the upload flow: an ecommerce team turns a rough product shot into a ready-to-sell image, a real estate platform clears the clutter from a room, a print shop lets a customer restyle their own photo into something worth framing.

Underneath all of it is the real work: run it so well that you stop thinking about it. Our customers put it better than we can. Finbarr Taylor, co-founder of Shogun: “This part of our software is just handled. It’s not something we need to worry about.”

I have never been more confident that what we do is exactly what this moment needs.

Which is why we gave Uploadcare a new look. The new look is meant to feel the way good infrastructure feels: complete, scalable, and reliable.

This is what Uploadcare is now, and where we are going. However you build, with AI or not, we are the file infrastructure you build on.
