Why a new billing model? An Operations-Based Billing model allows us to better align our pricing to how customers use our products and makes our billing strategy clearer and more straightforward.

What’s changing?

We’re introducing “Operations” as a new value metric in how we price our solution. This allows us to tie costs directly to the complexity of the actions performed with your files via Uploadcare’s APIs, including file uploading, image optimization, video processing, document conversion and more.

This transition to an Operations-Based Billing model means uploads will become approximately 2x cheaper, but we’ll start charging for services such as image transformation, optimization, unsafe content detection, and other Operations.

This adjustment directly aligns our pricing model with how customers use our product and reflects our commitment to fairness and transparency. We believe this makes our billing strategy clearer and more straightforward.

Why are we making this change?

Uploadcare launched over a decade ago as a simple file uploading widget with built-in storage. Since then, our product has become more sophisticated in order to meet the changing needs of our customers. Efficient delivery of files via CDNs in the optimal size, format and quality has become critical, and these requirements have influenced how our product has evolved.

Our commitment to innovation has enabled us to develop industry-leading content transformation and optimization solutions. With some of the fastest image resizing algorithms and optimization techniques available, we’ve set new standards in efficiency. Transitioning to an Operations-Based Billing model not only aligns costs with your actual usage, but also allows us to continually improve our product to meet your evolving needs as your business grows.

How will this affect me?

Beginning May 15th 2024, we’ll begin the gradual transition of all customers on legacy plans to the new Operations-Based Billing model and plans.
